Behind the Scenes of the AIRBNB Icon Project at the Musée d'Orsay: A Challenging Yet Rewarding Production Journey
2024 was an Olympic year in France, and with it came some extraordinary projects that pushed the boundaries of creativity and production. One of the most exciting ventures we had the pleasure of working on was AIRBNB's Icon Project — a collaboration that brought the worlds of art, luxury, and global tourism together in a way that only the Paris 2024 Olympics could inspire.
From February to July 2024, we were fortunate to partner with multiple agencies and clients to create a stunning photo and video experience, featuring a specially designed room and an exclusive rooftop party at the iconic Musée d'Orsay. This project served as part of the opening ceremony of the Olympics, an event that would capture the imagination of millions worldwide.
At French Fixers Production, our role was to provide comprehensive production services to ensure the execution of this high-profile campaign was flawless. The project was no small feat. It required meticulous coordination between numerous partners, all working towards the same goal: creating an unforgettable experience that would be immortalized through stunning visuals.
Managing a Complex Production
As production partners, we handled everything from location management to logistics. Though the AIRBNB room was designed for the Musée d'Orsay, we recreated it in a large studio to give us full control over lighting, space, and set design. Our experienced team worked closely with the creative agency to bring this vision to life.
Drone Team for Aerial Shots
To capture the grandeur of the Musée d'Orsay and the breathtaking views from the rooftop party, we organized a skilled drone team. Their expertise was invaluable in providing unique, elevated shots that added a cinematic quality to both the photos and video footage, offering a perspective that was both artistic and expansive.
Photo Assistants and Camera Crew
AIRBNB’s vision required a level of professionalism and technical skill that only the best crew could deliver. We provided experienced photo assistants and a top-tier camera crew, ensuring that every shot was captured perfectly. Whether it was the intricate details of the rooftop party or the grandeur of the museum's interior, our team made sure nothing was left to chance.
Gaffer and Grip Crew: Recreating the AIRBNB Room in Studio
Our gaffer and grip crew played a crucial role in this phase of production. They worked closely with the creative team to set up intricate lighting rigs, carefully designed to mimic the natural light that would have filled the room at the Musée d'Orsay. Whether it was crafting warm, ambient lighting or adding the necessary touches to highlight key details of the room’s design, the crew’s expertise ensured that the set was illuminated beautifully.
