What have we been up to this year?
Looking back at the first half of 2022, we’ve been busy at French Fixers.
In January we travelled for the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, following peace activist Latifa Ibn Ziaten to her hometown of Rouen, and then to Calais as part of her charity work with migrants.
In February, March and April, we covered the French Presidential elections with The Economist and ITV News. Cities we travelled to include Lille, Auxerre and Lyon, all 3 locations where we now have an extensive network.
May saw us focus on hip-hop, as we followed the road to the finals of Red Bull BC One.
We also helped produce an ad for Zity in Paris and Lyon, exploring iconic Parisian café life at Les Deux Magots.
The sunny month of June brought us to Provence where we did a shoot for Carnival Cruises, with a loop to the Champagne region.
January 2022 - Ziad Award In Rouen and Calais
For this 3 day shoot, French Fixers followed the Ziad Award for Human Fraternity to Rouen and Calais. The documentary focused on peace activist Latifa Ibn Ziaten, who created an NGO promoting peace. The winner of the 2021 Ziad Award, Latifa Ibn Ziaten lost her son to a terror attack in 2012. For the purpose of this shoot, we conducted interviews and translated questions.
February 2022 - Zity in Lyon and Paris
French Fixers worked with a Spanish agency for a new Car sharing called Zity. Our main work was to find iconic location in Lyon and Paris for a photoshoot.
March 2022 - The Economist in Lille and Auxerre
French Fixers covered the French Presidential election for The Economist. We travelled to Lille and Auxerre, conducting interviews of political militants from different parties, business owners, local officials and farmers. During our 3 days in Auxerre, we filmed different marches.
We’ve had a double hat of fixer and journalist since our beginnings with The Washington Post in 2014-2017, for which we covered the 2015 Paris attacks, and the 2017 Presidential elections.
May 2022 - Red Bull Road to BC One in Lyon and Paris
For this week long shoot across France, French Fixers helped produce a documentary on hip-hop.
The shoot started in Lyon, where we teamed up with a South-African crew to cover the Red Bull BC One final. Along with securing shooting permits, we found locations for different panoramic shots over the city. We then followed winner Carlotta to her hometown on Montpellier, for a breakdance scene in the most famous graffiti spots of the city.
Once in Paris, we embarked on one of our most exciting projects to date. French Fixers booked a graffiti artist and a venue, an open air space dedicated to street art and graffiti in the outskirts of Paris. We also secured permits to shoot at the Palais de Tokyo and by the Eiffel Tower.
May 2022 - Jamie Oliver travel show in Marseille
A fascinating deep dive into Marseille's vibrant gastronomy. We helped Jamie Oliver's production to explore the new gastronomy landscape of one of the most dynamic of France.
June 2022 - Carnival Cruise in Provence
For this shoot in the South of France, French Fixers worked for Carnival Cruise. As part of their strategy to promote local produce, we contacted local lavender and honey farmers.
